Baseball, and Theatre, and Arancini, oh my!
So, then we headed into week three, and it had big shoes to fill. I mean, Borough Market deserves its own post! Lucky, when we were planning this trip, I knew we’d be in London around June, but we didn’t have exact dates. Q saw that MLB Europe had a game there and immediately got us tickets to the baseball game!
That morning, we found a brunch spot near the stadium called Kitchen E20. They tried to be fancy by putting cocoa powder on my espresso martini, but I can’t eat chocolate, so I had to send it back. The food was okay, but it’s not making our “restaurants we love” list. Finally, it was time for the game!
We stopped by the merch stand first. I’m a big fan of enamel pins and love collecting them to remember cool occasions. They had two pins, one for each team, but they told me they were out of the Phillies one. I was about to give up (I didn’t really want the Mets pin anyway), but then I spotted a bunch of Phillies pins! I grabbed one, and we headed into the stadium to find our seats.
We had a great time drinking beer, watching baseball, and snacking on “cheese fries.” The quotes are because the poor fries were topped with cold shredded cheese. The guy at the stand told Q, “Don’t worry, they’re hot, it’ll melt,” but… it definitely didn’t.
Even though the Phillies lost, it was a fun day, and I think we’ll make it an annual tradition (Q will be so excited when he reads this.)
Going back to work after a fun weekend can be tough, but because of our offset work schedules, Q and I try to see theater together on Mondays when we can. He told me we had to see People, Place, and Things. He saw it on Broadway and loved it, so I got us tickets.
Y’all, it was incredible! One of the best plays I’ve ever seen, and the actress, Denise Gough, was amazing.
The rest of the week was pretty normal. We’re still figuring out our routine—when to cook at home, when to order in, when I can fit in my workouts, and what our laundry schedule will be. We started rewatching Brooklyn 99, because, well, NINE-NINE!
On Thursday, some work friends and I tried Arancino of Sicily. It’s close to our office, so we popped over during our lunch break. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype! The arancini were huge, gooey, and delicious. My favorite was the Pistachio Pancetta, but the Beef was also great. Check out my reel for a full recap of the arancini!
Finished out the work week on Friday and started packing for my birthday trip to Marseille! Stay tuned for the next post, which will be all about that amazing trip.
