Borough Market, Babes

We’ll get to Borough Market, but first we have to get through week two. After surviving the roller coaster that was week one, I was ready for a gentler second week, and luckily, that’s exactly what I got! Work was pretty chill, I was able to get some workouts in to pump some endorphins into my brain, and I had a lovely theatre date with my friend Julia.

Once we had made it to the weekend, Q suggested checking out Borough Market for the first time. We’ve been collecting reels of all the foodie spots we want to hit up in London, and Borough Market was a constant.

Approaching it felt kind of magical – it’s so quintessentially London! Once we walked it, my jaw honestly dropped. It’s bustling, full of stalls to explore, and smells incredible.

We started out at a cheese stall, of which I took absolutely no pictures because I was so enthralled by the cheese (sorry fam). What I CAN show you is my second cheese adventure of the day, which was at Kappacasein. We debated between the toastie and raclette, and honestly… the shorter line won this time 😅. The raclette was ooey gooey, exactly what you want in a dish of melted cheese over potatoes.

After the richness of the raclette, I wanted some briny oysters to cut cleanse the palette a bit. While Q doesn’t do oysters/shellfish, he fully supports me in my pursuit to get as much seafood in my mouth as possible at all times. Furness Oyster Bar was incredible. The staff were super knowledgeable, there were plenty of options and you could either choose your own types or let them choose for you. Pro tip for Furness: you get a discount for paying in cash!

Once I had scarfed down my oysters, we went in search of a beverage and our next delicious snack. We found frozen Aperol spritzes at Borough Wines and they were phenomenal. To pair with our frozen treat, we wandered over to Gourmet Goat for their Halloumi Fries… absolutely unreal. Deliciously gooey (can you sense a gooey cheese theme for the day?)

Finally, we knew we needed to get dessert. While there were many ice cream stalls calling our names, I had seen Humble Crumble on insta and new I needed it in my belly. And boy was I right. We got the classic apple with warm custard and my life will never be the same.

After the crumble (and a second round of cocktails), we were too full to keep going so… stay tuned for a Borough Market Pt. 2 at some point!

Q is a big proponent of the post-meal stroll to aid digestion, so we walked to Tower Bridge and crossed back over the Thames to our side of the river. Still pinching myself that I get to have afternoons like this – an absolute 10/10 day!
